Producing restaurant-quality rice at home is made easy with this 10-cup (enough to feed 1-10 people) Zojirushi NS-YSQ18 micom fuzzy logic electric rice cooker and warmer.
This is a large capacity cooker with an attractive, unique design of a durable clear-coated bronze stainless exterior. The NS-YSQ10 features additional settings including thicker/thinner congee (porridge), short grain rice, slow cook, Premium ‘taste’ (also known as ‘Umami’) and GABA brown rice settings. This cooker is designed to be used on 220-240V, 50Hz power and has a UK three pin plug. This Zojirushi model is made in Japan.
The NS-YSQ18 has multi-menu selections which uses Micom (micro-computerised) Fuzzy logic technology to control the temperature for the efficient cooking of many different types of rice including white, sushi, porridge, brown, and sweet rice. There is also a quick cooking feature on this model. The micro computer chip inside the NS-YSQ18 automatically makes adjustments to temperature and heating time – it ensures perfect rice every time.
The Zojirushi NS-YSQ18 has an automatic keep-warm function. There is a countdown feature during the last 10 minutes of the cooking cycle and when the rice is cooked a tune is played and the cooker automatically shifts to keep warm mode. For added convenience, the NS-YSQ18 has a low light LCD display with clock and timer function (for up to 13 hours in advance), a 1.5mm Sumiflon/Teflon coated inner bowl and a convenient detachable inner lid for easy cleaning.

Zojirushi rice cookers have lithium batteries that are used only for retaining timer and cooking memory for if there is a power interruption. The batteries have an estimated lifespan of around 5-10 years depending on use.
These batteries are not essential to the operation of the rice cookers but can be replaced only at authorised Zojirushi service centres if you feel you need to have it replaced. After warranty you would need to contact one of these centres if you wish the battery to be replaced.
We have no plans at all to sell Zojirushi Induction Heating models because the Zojirushi IH models for 220-240V power haven’t passed any CE safety tests for use in the UK or Europe so they therefore cannot be legally supplied within the UK or Europe, so this is why we do not supply them. Not only is there a voltage difference but there is a difference in the frequency of electricity used. The Zojirushi IH models are also very, very expensive to purchase (around £150-200 more than our conventional rice cooker models).
We do have our own branded Induction Heating rice cookers, Fuji YUM-IH07 and Bamboo YUM-IH15/2/B. These are the first IH rice cooker to be made for the UK and Europe. It has many unique rice cooking features which Yum Asia developed using our rice cooker/cooking expertise.

Yes, we supply spare parts for Zojirushi rice cookers for customers who bought their rice cooker from Yum Asia.
These spare parts need to be ordered in advance and can take approximately 8-12 weeks (minimum lead time) to come in stock.

After cooking rice with cheap rice cooker, which burned brown layer of rice to the bottom, I finally got fed up and started to look for a proper one. Zojirushi rice cookers are not from the lower end of the price scale, which made me to think a while. After I made up my mind and got NS-YSQ18 the only thing I regret is that I did not order it earlier. It is definitely worth of the price. If sushi does not taste good it is for sure not because of rice cooking. It cooks perfect fluffy rice every time, is very easy use and to clean. In addition to rice by timer function it also cooks really good oatmeal porridge for busy mornings.

I have been to Japan a couple of times and have never been able to recreate the joy of Japanese rice at home. I found the YumAsia site when searching for authentic Japanese rice cooking products, and was enthralled by the idea of a Japanese rice cooker. It did take me a while to see through the very high purchase price of even the most basic model, but I kept coming back to the site and in the end bought the most expensive model. I have not been disappointed. Mine is the NS-YSQ18, a 10 cup Zojirushi with the GABA brown rice feature. The machine is super easy to use, and plays cheerful tunes to tell you how it is doing. My key learning is that this product can do amazing things for you, but that the best results are with excellent quality rice. My first use was with a generic "glutenous rice" that had only ever turned into amorphous slop when cooked in a saucepan. The Zojirushi machine gave me a result that looked and tasted like properly cooked rice, though still not to Japanese standards. Next night I tried some Basmati rice that had been lurking at the back of the cupboard for a while. This time I got perfectly cooked Basmati rice – delicious. Next I ordered some imported Shinmei Akafuji Akitakomachi rice from the Japan Centre in London. The rice cooker has consistently created absolutely exquisite rice. I season it with Tamari Soy sauce and would honestly be happy to eat nothing else for the rest of my days. I am absolutely thrilled and am making lots of plans for meals in the future. I also shared the 100% positive experience of dealing with YumAsia. My cooker arrived in very short order having been carefully and thoughtfully hand wrapped. I will certainly be back to order other things. One warning though – the experience of eating beautiful Japanese rice in my own home was so nice that I very quickly decided it was time to visit Japan again, and so I am now the proud owner of a pair of return tickets to Narita!

I wanted to tell you how Very pleased I am with my new NS-YSQ18! Brown Rice and congee even better than my old Zojirushi, which was fantastic too but the new Slow-Cook function is so great, so practical! I can make minestrone soup, pasta dishes, chowder so easily and they all keep warm and wait for the family without spoiling or drying out at all. 10/10 and of course 10/10 for your brilliant customer service and delivery at Yum Asia –

I’ve had the NS-YSQ18 for about a year now and I LOVE it! I’ve tried many different types of rice, also mixed with different ingredients and it cooks it all perfectly! The GABA brown rice is also very tasty, it takes a while to cook but it has an amazing flavor. I haven’t tried the slow cook function yet but I definitely will! Thanks YumAsia for making it possible for me to be able to use such a great rice cooker! I couldn’t live without it anymore! ^^

My background: I grew up eating rice every day. I’ve also been cooking Japanese rice on the stove for more than seven years. One would think I would have already learned by now how to cook great, if not perfect rice. Well, if the rice that I cook is perfect, the rice that the NS-YSQ18 cooks is perfect+. Or perfect++. Or even perfect+++. What’s better, it cooks rice consistently perfect+++. I’ve thrown everything from (US-produced) koshihikari and akitaotome to (Japanese) akitakomachi at it, and – no matter if I cook 2 cups or 7 cups – out comes delicious, fluffy rice every single time.
It’s also very easy to use, the build quality is excellent, the start/stop melodies are cute, and it’s extremely easy to clean.
Oh, and Yum Asia’s customer service is awesome: They’re always friendly and super-helpful!
(I would give this 6 out of 5 stars if possible, but I’ll settle for 5+++ out of 5.)
